Past Compositions and Future Goals

I am walking into English 1030 Accelerated Composition, with the knowledge of how to write resumes, academic essays composed for scholarships and contests, research papers, narratives, and a small taste of poetry.  Though my previous teachers have laid a foundation for certain forms of writing, I believe there are plenty of crucial skills I have yet to learn.  Just by reading four chapters from Everyone's an Author I can now call to attention the importance of thinking and acting rhetorically, as well as analyzing arguments.  The concepets I have read about over the past few days are interesting.  I have learned that artwork, ads, even deciding what to wear to school is a rhetorical situation or a type of argument.  What my class is learning about surrounds us daily.  Authoring is all around us.  By the end of this course I hope to have learned many interesting concepts and ways of thinking, so that when applied, will greatly improve my writing quality.
