Writing has always been something that I have done because I was told to do it for an assignment. I really have never tried to write something on my own time, or just for fun. The reason for this is not because I have a deep hatred for writing, but because I enjoy doing other things in my free time more.
Throughout my years of schooling, I have learned to compose in many forms, all of which contain different tones and require different writing styles to be incorporated. I have been told to write the basic "tell me about what you did this summer" papers that no one likes to read. I've written poetry, and have had to read it to the class out loud (embarrassing). Last year, in my English class, we had to write blogs as well as write a senior thesis on Macbeth. Needless to say, the senior thesis paper was a drag. This year, I've had to write many lab reports since I'm a Biological Science major. These reports are something I don't really enjoy because there's not much creativity to them. It's simply state the facts, tell what your results mean, and include a boat load of supporting material.
Some things I hope to take away from this course is a greater love of writing. Right now I wouldn't say I love to write, but I also wouldn't say it's something that makes me want to cry when a teacher assigns a paper. I also hope to work to refine my skills and aim for perfection in all of my works; because I believe that even if you aim for perfection and fall short, you'll still end up being very very good.

Mission Statement
As Clemson composition students, we strive to uphold the values of Clemson University, maintain a high quality standard of writing, and successfully implement rhetorical strategies in our work.
I like your attitude! Also, what a range of writing experiences. Your background will definitely help you in this class. And we won't be doing anything related to Medieval British lit, so don't you worry.
